What is the Alzheimer's Association?

The Alzheimer's Association is the national voluntary health  agency dedicated to research

for the prevention, cure, and treatment of Alzheimer's disease  and related disorders

and to providing support and assistance to afflicted  individuals and their families

The Alzheimer's Association is the world leader in Alzheimer research and support. Since our founding in 1980, we have provided over $150 million to support research into the prevention, treatment and eventual cure for Alzheimer's.

Our nationwide network of chapters offer frontline support to individuals affected by Alzheimer's with services that include 24/7 information and referral, safety services, and education and support groups.

Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease.

Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research and to enhance quality care and support for individuals, their families and care partners. In addition, advocacy is a major component of the Alzheimer's Association mission to achieve a world without Alzheimer's disease. We have emerged as an authority on the issues that affect people with Alzheimer's disease and their families, serving as a voice for them in the capitals of every state, hundreds of U. S. congressional offices, and even the White House.

The Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, NY Chapter, serving  Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, and Ulster, and Westchester Counties, is a unit of the Association committed to carrying out the mission of the Alzheimer's Association at the local level. It is registered in New York as a non-profit corporation and governed by  a volunteer Board of Directors.
