Amy LaFleur
Board Member of Young Professionals Alzheimer's Council
Amy is a speech language pathologist (SLP) from Westchester County. She has spent most of her career working with adult and geriatric patients in healthcare settings, including sub-acute, skilled nursing and home-care.
She currently works with pediatrics in a NYC public school. In 2012, her mom was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), a form of dementia which primarily impacts language function. Amy and her dad both act as caregivers to support her mom. Having seen dementia from the viewpoint of both caregiver and clinician, Amy has developed a passion for caregiver and patient advocacy. She has been involved with several organizations supporting caregivers and their loved ones including Our Turn 2 Care and GiveCare. She is thrilled to be a part of the YPAC family!
